Cornershop Design collaborated with House of Cards to create packaging for their Solera Fortified Shiraz — a wine more than ten years in the making.

Since 2011, the team has set aside their best barrel of fortified Shiraz each vintage. What began as the One-Eyed Jack Fortified Shiraz has gradually evolved into something more ambitious. The Solera Fortified Shiraz is drawn from a single foudré containing a continuous blend of vintages. Each year, one barrel goes in and one comes out. Every bottle contains a trace of the original 2011 vintage, layered and preserved through time.

We saw an opportunity to build on the visual language established by the One-Eyed Jack Fortified Shiraz. It was a natural progression — an elevated evolution that retained the brand’s signature card theme while refining the finish and composition to reflect the wine’s age and character.

Printed by MCC Perth, the label features an intricate black foil illustration that creates a layered black-on-black effect, sitting seamlessly against the dark glass bottle. Embossed gold foil is used sparingly to bring warmth and visual balance. The result is quietly dramatic, reflecting the patience and craft behind the wine itself.
